This article discusses Bills to legalize TNC’s in Florida.

What these articles are not telling you is that all this legal activity is being done without any representation of the affected drivers. So long as the drivers of the TNC’s do not unite and create an Association to represent their interests, it is likely that Uber will be the only influence at the table discussing what these new laws, regulations, and requirements will be.

As drivers working for Uber, barely making enough money to pay your expenses, and unable to have any say in what your contract with Uber says . . . Are you really comfortable with Uber being the only influence. Drivers need representation. Drivers deserve a say in how poorly they are treated. Drivers need to act to form an association that will represent them and work for the betterment of the drivers. It is going to take a lot more time trying to change the rules after they are made than it will to participate in the development of the rules.

Many drivers are not concerned with the impact such regulations will have on the Ride-Hail services. Some do not care because it is only a part time gig, others because they do not understand that driver influence could seriously prevent further abuse by employers that see drivers as a “commodity” instead of as people with obligations and family. But, even if these drivers do not share the same level of concern, they should still participate in joining an Association for the benefit of their fellow drivers that need the representation of an Association to get a fair deal from the employers.
